How to Create and Manage User Groups

Add users to groups for easier Channel sharing, or map SSO groups as shareable groups

Requirements

User Admin permissions are required to manage User Groups

AVAIL Enterprise subscription is required for mapping SSO groups

AVAIL Desktop version 5.0

How to Create an AVAIL User Group 

  • In the AVAIL Desktop, select the User Profile drop-down
  • Select Profile & Account
  • Select the User Groups tab
  • Select + New Group
  • Assign a Group Name, and optionally give it a description. The Group Name will be how the group appears in the AVAIL application.
  • Select Create. This will take you to the Groups Details page where you can manage users.

How to Assign Members to a User Group

  • In the Group Details menu, select the Members tab
  • Select + Add Members
  • Checkmark the members you would like to add
  • Select Add Selected

How to Remove Members from a User Group

  • In the Group Details menu, select the Members tab
  • Checkmark the users to be removed. Use the search box to quickly find users.
  • Select Remove

How to Edit a User Group's Details

  • In the User Group's tab, locate the group and select Edit
  • Edit the Group Details as needed, then select Save Changes

How to Delete a User Group

  • In the User Group's tab, locate the group and select Delete
  • Select OK to confirm deletion. This will not delete the users, just the group.

How to map a SSO Group into AVAIL as a Shareable Group*

  • In the AVAIL Desktop, select the User Profile drop-down
  • Select Profile & Account
  • Select the User Groups tab
  • Select the + New Group dropdown
  • Select Map SSO Group
  • Assign a Group Name, and optionally give it a description. The Group Name will be how the group appears in the AVAIL application.
  • Assign the External ID for the group
    • The value for the External ID is dependent on the type of SSO integration:

      • For Azure, the external group ID is the Object ID of the group (usually in the form of a 32-digit GUID)
      • For Okta, the external group ID is the Name of the group in Okta.
      • For ADFS and PING, the external group ID is the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN).
  • Select Create
