AVAIL for Revit 2027 Updates
Support for Revit 2027 is coming. Find out what is changing and how to plan your deployment to minimize impact.
Key Changes with Revit 2027:
-
Because of Microsoft development requirements, Autodesk is building Revit 2027 on .NET 10 (a backend framework).
-
Based on Autodesk documentation, they will also be upgrading the next point releases for Revit 2025 and 2026 to .NET 10 as well.
-
Because .NET 10 removes a system dependency that AVAIL relies on for interprocess communication, the change affects the native drag-and-drop functionality between the AVAIL Desktop and the Revit add-in, requiring additional development from AVAIL to fix.
What this means:
-
New versions of the AVAIL Desktop, AVAIL for Revit, and AVAIL for AutoCAD add-in will be required to support the anticipated updates to Revit 2025, 2026, and 2027 (on .NET 10).
-
AVAIL's Drag and Drop (from Desktop to Revit add-in) functionality will no longer work once Autodesk releases the .NET 10 versions of Revit 2025 and 2026 (release numbers and dates are still TBD).
-
Current versions of Revit 2025 (version 2025.4.5) and 2026 (version 2026.4.1) are supported without any additional action.
- This article will be updated with more information in the coming weeks. Email communication will also be sent to customers as a reminder of the change and provide next steps.
