In order to get started, you will need to: 

  • Create an AVAIL account at getavail.com/register 
  • Install and login to the AVAIL Desktop application 
  • Install and open the AVAIL Content Browser for Revit 

Place a Family in Revit using AVAIL 

  1. Create a Channel named “Revit Families”. 
  2. Locate your Revit Standards Library. 
  3. Drag & Drop that folder into the AVAIL Desktop application. 
  4. Select .rfa from the filetype selection list and follow the prompts to complete the indexing process. After the process is complete, right-click in the “Revit Families” Channel and choose Refresh (or use CTRL+R). You should now see your Revit families. You can verify the number of families in the Channel in the lower right corner. 
  5. Open a new Revit project and launch the AVAIL Content Browser for Revit. 
  6. Use the search box at the top right or use the Filters Panel to search the Tags and find the family you want. 
  7. Select a family in the AVAIL Desktop and you should see that family appear in the AVAIL Content Browser for Revit. 
  8. Select a family type in the AVAIL Content Browser for Revit and Drag & Drop into your open project.     

Place a Detail in Revit from another Project using AVAIL 

  1. Create a Channel named “Revit Projects”. 
  2. Locate a Revit Project (.rvt) file on your network. 
  3. Drag & Drop that .rvt file into the Revit Projects Channel in the AVAIL Desktop application. 
  4. Select .rvt from the filetype selection list and follow the prompts to complete the indexing process. After the process is complete, right-click on the Revit Projects channel and choose Refresh (or use CTRL+R). You should now see your Revit project. 
  5. Open a new Revit project and launch the AVAIL Content Browser for Revit. 
  6. Select the Revit Project in the AVAIL Desktop “Revit Projects” Channel and you should see transferrable content (Families, Views, Sheets, Schedules, Legends, Groups) appear in the AVAIL Content Browser for Revit. 
  7. Select the View tab in the AVAIL Content Browser for Revit, right click on a single View and choose “Preview” View. After confirming this is the view you’d like to use, Drag & Drop that View onto a new Sheet in your open project.
